Surnames WILSON or HEAD or SIMMONS and MEPHAM living in or near Alfriston or Berwick in East Sussex. GUNPOWDER FACTORY STAFF BEFORE 1841
With a view to publication, Arthur Percival and colleagues at the Faversham Society are compiling a list of all those known to have worked in gunpowder factories in the British Isles (including Ireland) before 1841. Some who arrived in the 1680s were Hugunot refugees.
